Come one, come all to the PTA Holiday Party. Bring your favorite holiday dish to share and enjoy a evening of fun-filled activities and music. Kids are welcome to join in the fun. Meet some fellow PTA members and enjoy the night with family and friends. This event will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room and plates and utensils will be provided.

Our school will be hosting it's 3rd Annual Auction at the Event Center at St. Mary's Cathedral. We are looking forward to a great auction with lots of items to bid on, free food and drinks, and great music to entertain us. Help support our school by sponsoring your child in our third annual Walk-a-Thon.  This event will be held on our school yard from 10 am until 1 pm on November 15.  Come and join the fun!

Join us on Wednesday, October 29 at 2:00 pm in the library to celebrate Halloween with "Books and Spooks".  We will have stories, crafts and lots of FUN!

Join our school community and neighborhood volunteers at our joint Garden Work Day and Friends of the Urban Forest Dig It event from 9 am to 12 pm this Saturday

Sign up with your child's teacher for a parent teacher conference during the week of October 20-24.  School will be released one hour early that week, at 12:50 pm.  Please make arrangements to pick up your child early.

Shop at Sloat Garden Center this weekend and the week of November 7 through 16 to help our school earn 10% of all DFES purchases to use for our school garden.  Use the flier that went out in last week's Wednesday Envelope.  Share the flier with your friends and families so their purchases will go towards our fundraising efforts.

Join us on October 1 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm for Kindergarten Family Dinner Night.  Meet other kindergarten families and enjoy yummy food.  Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children.  Please RSVP and send in payment to Judy by Friday, September 26.

Dianne Feinstein Elementary School is the only school which has been invited to the opening of the Cal Academy of Sciences on Saturday, September 27.  During the ceremony, our students will release monarch butterflies signaling the opening of the Academy and the renewed focus on education.

Vendors came to the school last Wednesday and the deadline for sign ups was last Friday.  The Committee meeting on October 30 covered vendor feedback, as well as changes to or cancellation of classes.

Last week, the City approved the school's request to extend the Vicente Gate white zone to cover the entire length of the block.  The City’s action will encourage drop-offs at the Vicente Gate by roughly doubling drop-off capacity, and by eliminating the drop off zone in front of the school.  Look for more information after the white zone is painted.

Our school will be celebrating Read Across America Day on March 7.  Join the fun by volunteering to read in your child's class or assist with the many fun activities for the day.  Contact  your child's teacher for information.

Early dismissal for Parent Teacher Conference Week from March 17 through March 21.  Please make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:50 pm during this week.

Join first grade families on March 20 for Family Dinner Night at Chevy's Stonestown from 5 pm - 8 pm.  Come support our fundraising efforts AND mingle with other first grade families!

Spring Break will be from March 24 through March 31.  School will resume on April 1.  Enjoy the break!

Tips and resources and an opportunity to share concerns with other parents.
Parents will share concerns related to kindergarten and will learn how to recognize and respond to social, emotional and academic challenges children may encounter during this first year in elementary school. Maryellen Mullin, MA, MFTI - Maryellen Mullin, MA, MFTI is a Learning Support Professional (LSP) with the San Francisco Unified School District. Her clinical background is as a license eligible Marriage and Family Therapist. She provides individual and group therapy, teacher and family consultation, parent education and classroom behavioral support at the elementary school level. Ms. Mullin is excited to share her expertise with the Parents Place community.
