The Alumni Association extends its deepest condolences to the GWHS community on the untimely death on September 7, 2008, of English teacher Sid Sherrill.

Mr. Sherrill's family has kindly requested that sympathy gifts be directed to a new scholarship fund in his honor, and we have accordingly created a new fund. Donations are accepted on campus (directed to the mailboxes of Rosemary Jacobs, Peggy Clinton, or the Alumni Association) or through the mail (GWHSAA, 600 32nd Ave., SF 94121). Checks should be made out to the GWHS Alumni Association and earmarked for the Sid Sherrill Fund. If your company or organization offers eligible matching funds, please use ID 94-1101547 (this is the SFUSD's ID) or submit any forms to Denise Joseph for completion.

We hope to raise $5,000 to designate the fund as Restricted, which will generate income for us to award the scholarship in perpetuity. I will provide a current total following our Mar. 12 board meeting.
