Title:
Volunteer for GWHS fundraiser Bay to Breakers Expo
Body:
Are you retired, underemployed or unemployed? Want to help Washington but can't donate money right now? Read below for a great opportunity for alumni to help the very ambitious freshman class by volunteering for just five hours.

For more information please contact Sean directly. If you're on Facebook, friend Sean and he'll link you to the Facebook event page and email you with event updates. Read on --

I am happy to announce that the GWHS Class of 2012 has been chosen as an official Community Beneficiary of the 2009 ING Bay to Breakers.

In return for GWHS' volunteers, they guarantee a minimum of $1,500 will be donated to our group. Additionally, they'll provide information and/or a weblink about our group on their website to help raise awareness of our group's activities.

Principal Lovrin has approved for student volunteers to leave school early to participate in this event. Associated Student Body Sponsor Mr. Brinton is planning to organize this as a field trip and will be the chaperone for student volunteers. We hope to recruit adult volunteers to minimize the number of students we need to pull out of classes. We need a total of 40 volunteers.

Below are details for this event that potential volunteers need to know.
Date: Friday, May 15th
Time: 2:30pm - 7:30pm
Place: Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, 99 Grove Street, San Francisco

* Each volunteer must be able to commit to the full Expo shift; no partial shifts are possible. Everyone needs to show up on time and be ready to volunteer.

* Examples of Expo volunteer activities include providing Expo directions and event information, handing out race packets, and handing out race t-shirts.

* Volunteers must be physically able to stand for long periods of time, be able to bend and reach to retrieve boxed items, and have excellent verbal communication skills.

* They will provide snacks, drinks, and an ING Bay to Breakers volunteer t-shirt for each volunteer. There is no meal break. Their volunteer staffing is tight, they really hope everyone can be "in place" for the entire shift.

I need to submit the names of our 40 volunteers to them no later than April 1, 2009. I would like to hear back from those interested by March 15, 2009. Interested volunteers please contact me.

Thank you in advance for all your support.

Sincerely, Sean Dy Juanco
2012 Class President
